Am 25. November 2019 feiert das European Centre for Advanced Studies gemeinsam mit der Leuphana Universität Lüneburg und dem Niedersächsischen Ministerium für Bundes- und Europaangelegenheiten und Regionale Entwicklung das 70-jährige Bestehen des Europarates mit einer Konferenz zum Thema
“The Role of the Council of Europe in Challenging Times”
Der Europarat wurde 1949 gegründet, um Demokratie, Menschenrechte und Rechtsstaatlichkeit in Europa zu fördern und wahren. Er hat 47 Mitgliedstaaten und ist am bekanntesten für den Europäischen Gerichtshof für Menschenrechte, der über angebliche Verletzungen der Europäischen Menschenrechtskonvention urteilt.
Wir laden Sie daher herzlich zu unserer Konferenz ein, auf der Themen wie die Vergangenheit und Zukunft des Europarates, die Rolle der Nicht-EU-Mitgliedstaaten und die Auswirkungen der digitalen Transformation auf Demokratie, Rechtsstaatlichkeit und Menschenrechte von namenhaften Expert*innen auf diesem Gebiet diskutiert werden.
